People For Animals- Bangalore (PFA), is a non-profit conservation organisation working on the rescue and rehabilitation of urban wildlife.
About us: We at PfA, believe that animals should not be subjected to suffering and exploitation by humans because alternatives exist for nearly every traditional “usage” of animals. The natural habitats and food sources for the native fauna are constantly being eroded and these animals are being exposed to increasing risks from predators and ‘ unnatural’ dangers. Human cruelty accounts for many of the casualties brought in for care, attention and rehabilitation.
The protection of nature and our physical environment from degradation is our primary necessity and responsibility, if we and other life forms on this planet are to survive in the future. PfA is therefore committed to protecting and saving the already degrading and threatened natural heritage of the country. The organization is dedicated to the urgent action of conservation of the urban wildlife in the city of Bangalore.
PFA’s principal concerns are crisis management and the provision of quick, efficient aid to those animals that require it the most .
We run a 24-hour rescue call in facility, for injured traumatized abandoned wildlife that need emergency care, after which the rescued animals are shifted to our wildlife hospital cum shelter for intensive treatment and rehabilitation and release to the wild. PFA also runs free 24-hour animal Mobile Ambulances equipped to treat and transport injured, sick and ill animals in and around Bangalore. Our activities have been primarily supported by individual donations from general public over the years.
PFA rescues an average of 150 animals per month in & around Bangalore city. This includes endangered species which are fighting for survival. Out of these 75% have been successfully released into their natural habitat. We have rescued reptiles like common cobras, Indian Rock Python, Rat Snake, Russell’s Viper, Birds like Kites, Parakeets, eagles, vultures, Barn Owls, Myna, Peafowl’s, & Mammals like Bonnet Macaque, Slender loris, Black Naped Hare, Black Buck, fruit Bats. Our volunteers accompany the Forest department officials on raids to seek out illegally detained wildlife. We have been recognized for our services and we receive regular calls from concerned urbanites and information from our network of volunteers about wildlife needing help.
